Dr. Geoffrey B. Card, BSc PhD CEng FICE EurIng CGeol FGS CSci
Geoff has over 35 years of experience in providing civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering solutions all over the world. He has considerable experience of major transport and infrastructure projects such as London Docklands, Crossrail, and signature building developments in the Thames Corridor.
He is a recognised expert on the design and construction of development on derelict land such as shallow mine workings, contaminated and landfill gassing sites. He is often called upon to provide litigation support in relation to the risks associated with brownfield redevelopment and geotechnical issues.
Geoff has authored much of the UK’s guidance relating to ground gas and has sat on various steering groups and drafting committees. He has directed the assessment and remediation of many brownfield sites reshaping the London Skyline, including Wandsworth Riverside Quarter, Millennium Harbour, Embassy Gardens, and the Olympic Velodrome.
Cathy Lee, BSc MSc CEnv FGS MIEnvSC
Cathy has some 15 years of experience specialising in land and groundwater contamination. Her skills lie in site assessment and investigation, due diligence, liability assessment, detailed quantitative risk assessment (DQRA) for human health and groundwater and the remediation and redevelopment of brownfield land.
She has managed many large scale soil and groundwater remediation projects under the planning regime and Part 2A of the Contaminated Land Regulations. She has provided advice to developers, contractors, consultants and multi-national corporations with regard to the purchase and sale of land, as well as providing an assessment of potential liabilities and abnormal costs for sites in the UK and internationally.
Cathy has authored a number of papers and contributed to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Manual of Geotechnical Engineering on environmental testing.
Ian Cutler, MEng CEng MICE
With experience spanning over 18 years in civil, geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering consultancy, Ian has had involvement in major infrastructure, commercial/industrial and residential development projects across the UK. He is experienced in the project management of engineering projects, ground remediation advice, foundation design, temporary works design and third party reviews.
Ian has also undertaken slope and rock stability analysis, basement impact assessments, as well as providing advice on ground improvement, earthworks and material re-use and waste/resource management.
As well as design support, Ian provides input into pre-purchase and feasibility assessments as well as tender support and risk minimisation. In working alongside a number of major contractors, Ian has worked on railway and highway/motorway infrastructure, London Underground property and on military establishments.
